Biodiversity and ecosystem monitoring

We conduct systematic monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem health, including baseline ecological assessments and long-term monitoring of species, habitats, and environmental conditions. This work focuses on understanding ecological patterns, trends, and drivers across freshwater ecosystems, nearshore and coastal systems, and selected landscapes.

Our monitoring focuses on

  • Species distribution and abundance: Tracking the distribution and population dynamics of key species to detect trends and assess conservation needs.
  •  Habitat health and ecosystem dynamics: Evaluating habitat quality, ecosystem functioning, and the impacts of climate change and land-use change on biodiversity.
  •  Human impact assessment: Assessing the influence of human activities on biodiversity, including pollution, land-use change, and unsustainable resource extraction
