SUSTAINABLE FUTURES TANZANIA
Creating an environment
where people and nature thrive together
ABOUT US
Who We Are
Sustainable Futures Tanzania (SFT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating an environment where people and nature thrive together. Founded in 2022 and officially registered in 2024 under Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002 of the United Republic of Tanzania. Supported by a dedicated team of staff, scientists, and members, we are driving sustainable conservation efforts and enhancing livelihoods across Tanzania. Through direct conservation projects and partnerships, we impact communities and ecosystems, aiming to build a resilient and sustainable future for all Tanzanians.
Our Services
We believe that effective conservation begins with strong scientific research. Understanding ecosystem changes, species distributions, and human impacts is essential for developing sustainable conservation strategies. Through rigorous research and long-term biodiversity monitoring, we provide data-driven solutions to protect Tanzania’s unique ecosystems and species
Habitat degradation is one of the greatest threats to biodiversity, particularly in freshwater ecosystems where human activities have altered natural landscapes. At Sustainable Futures Tanzania (SFT), we focus on restoring critical habitats to support the recovery of endangered species, enhance ecosystem resilience, and ensure sustainable benefits for local communities
Fisheries play a crucial role in the lives of millions of people in Tanzania, providing not only a vital source of nutrition but also livelihoods and economic opportunities for communities across the country. Fishing is deeply woven into the social and cultural fabric of many rural communities, contributing to local economies and food security. However, overfishing, habitat destruction, and unsustainable practices are putting immense pressure on fish populations and the health of aquatic ecosystems. These challenges not only threaten biodiversity but also jeopardize the long-term sustainability of fisheries, which so many people depend on.
We provide expert consultancy services in biodiversity conservation, ecological research, and sustainable aquatic resource management. Our team combines scientific expertise with practical, community-centred approaches to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development. We believe in solutions that balance conservation with livelihoods, ensuring a future where people and nature thrive together.
